You may have heard of CFSS (Community First Services and Supports).
CFSS is Minnesota’s new program that replaced what used to be called PCA (Personal Care Assistance). Many people are more familiar with the term PCA and CFSS is just an updated version of that program.
What is CFSS?
CFSS is a program that helps pay for home care services. It is designed to support people who need help with daily activities like:
Bathing and dressing
Eating and meal preparation
Moving safely around the home
Health-related tasks
Getting out into the community
The goal of CFSS is simple: to help people live safely and independently at home and be a part of their community.
What’s the Difference Between PCA and CFSS?
While both programs help people receive care at home, CFSS offers:
More flexibility in how services are set up
A budget option that gives people more control
The ability for a spouse or parent of a minor (in some cases) to be paid as a caregiver
More person-centered planning
Like PCA, CFSS helps people receive care in their own home instead of moving to a facility.
